Visa Card

Tax Glossary Definition

Visa Card

A Visa card is a payment card that operates on the Visa network and carries the Visa logo. Visa itself does not issue cards directly; instead, they are issued by banks or financial institutions in partnership with Visa. These cards can take various forms, including credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, or gift cards, enabling secure electronic payments worldwide wherever Visa is accepted.

Example: A customer holds a HDFC Bank Visa credit card. They can use it to make purchases online, withdraw cash from ATMs, or pay at retail stores globally wherever Visa is accepted, while the bank manages the credit, billing, and rewards associated with the card.
