Tax Glossary Definition
A gainer is a stock whose trading-session closing price is higher than its opening price. On days when the market shows broad upward momentum, it is common to see more gainers than losers. Stocks with the largest percentage or absolute gains are grouped as top gainers.
Example: Suppose a stock begins trading at ₹150 and ends the session at ₹180. The ₹30 rise represents a 20% increase, placing it among the day’s top-performing gainers.
