Tax sparing credit

Tax Glossary Definition

Tax sparing credit

A tax sparing credit is a unique form of double taxation relief found in tax treaties with developing nations. If a country offers tax incentives to attract foreign investment and a company benefiting from these incentives is a resident of another treaty country, the latter may provide a credit against its own tax for the tax that would have been paid if the incentives were not granted.
