SGX Nifty

Tax Glossary Definition

SGX Nifty

The SGX Nifty represents futures contracts based on India’s Nifty 50 index that are traded on the Singapore Exchange (SGX). The Nifty 50, compiled by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India, tracks fifty major publicly listed companies from diverse sectors and serves as a key gauge of the country’s stock market performance. SGX Nifty provides international investors with a platform to participate in Indian equity markets from abroad and often acts as a barometer indicating how Indian markets might behave before trading begins domestically.

Example: When SGX Nifty futures move upward before the Indian markets open, it generally hints at a potentially strong start for the NSE Nifty index that day.
