Quoted Shares

Tax Glossary Definition

Quoted Shares

These are shares traded on recognized stock exchanges. The tax treatment of profits from their sale depends on how long the investor held them—classified as either short-term or long-term.

Example: If an investor sells listed equity shares after keeping them for more than one year, the profit is considered a long-term capital gain. Such gains are taxed at 10% on the amount exceeding ₹1,00,000.
