Tax Glossary Definition

Quoted Price Method

A valuation technique that determines the fair market value (FMV) of listed securities based on their prevailing prices on a recognized stock exchange. This method is typically applied when calculating capital gains or assessing investment value.

Example: If listed shares are trading at ₹12 lakh as per the stock exchange rate, that figure is taken as their FMV for capital gains computation.
