Quoted Debentures

Tax Glossary Definition

Quoted Debentures

These are debt instruments that are traded on recognized stock exchanges. Any interest received from such debentures is generally taxed under the head “Income from Other Sources.”

Example: If an investor earns ₹50,000 as interest, tax is deducted at source (TDS) at 10%, provided the income crosses the applicable exemption limit.
