Privilege (diplomatic)

In accordance with general principles of international law or specific agreements, diplomatic agents and consular officers are generally granted exemption from taxes in the state to which they are assigned. Numerous tax treaties incorporate a provision reserving the right to tax income derived from outside the state for the sending state.
