Challan 280 is a tax payment voucher used by taxpayers in India to deposit Income Tax directly with the government. It is used for paying: Advance Tax Self-Assessment Tax Regular Assessment Tax Additional tax liabilities, if any This challan can be filled and paid online through the income-tax portal or authorized banks, or offline at banks.

Key Details: Used by individuals, companies, firms, and all other taxpayers. Requires basic details like PAN, assessment year, tax type, and payment amount. Generates a challan counterfoil/receipt as proof of tax payment. Purpose: To formally record payment of Income Tax by a taxpayer to the government
