Tax Glossary Definition
The NDNC Registry, or National Do Not Call Registry, is a system created by TRAI to help individuals avoid unsolicited marketing calls. Introduced in 2007, it lets users list their mobile or landline numbers so that telemarketers know not to contact them with promotional offers.
After a number is added to the registry, telemarketing agencies must verify their call lists and exclude the registered numbers. This reduces unwanted calls, gives subscribers more control over their privacy, and encourages ethical communication practices. If a telemarketer continues to call despite the number being listed, the affected person can file a complaint.
Example: Once someone adds their phone number to the NDNC registry, they should stop receiving promotional calls for products like credit cards or insurance. If such calls persist, they can report the violation to TRAI.
