ITR-V

Tax Glossary Definition

ITR-V

ITR-V – ITR-V (Income Tax Return Verification) is an acknowledgment issued after electronically filing an Income Tax Return (e-filing) in India. It serves as proof that the return has been submitted successfully. Key points about ITR-V: It must be signed by the taxpayer and sent to the Centralized Processing Centre (CPC) of the Income Tax Department within 120 days of filing. Verification completes the e-filing process for taxpayers who do not use Aadhaar-based e-verification or other electronic verification methods. Without ITR-V submission, the income tax return is considered incomplete, and refunds or assessments may be delayed. Example: An individual files their ITR-1 online but does not e-verify using Aadhaar. They download the ITR-V, sign it, and send it via post to CPC, Bangalore to complete the verification
