Indexation

Indexation – The process of adjusting the purchase cost of an asset for inflation using the Cost Inflation Index (CII) to accurately calculate long-term capital gains, reducing the tax burden. Example: When selling a property, the CII is applied to the original purchase price to compute the indexed cost of acquisition for capital gains calculation.
