HUF Deduction

Tax Glossary Definition

HUF Deduction

Refers to the tax benefits available to a Hindu Undivided Family, which is recognized as a distinct taxable unit under the Income Tax Act. Similar to an individual taxpayer, an HUF can claim deductions under sections such as 80C and 80D for eligible investments or expenses made from its own income.

Example: If an HUF contributes ₹1.5 lakh to a Public Provident Fund (PPF), the amount qualifies for deduction under Section 80C.
