Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) A Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) is a non-resident entity or fund that invests in Indian financial markets, such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, to earn returns. FIIs are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Example: A US-based mutual fund purchasing Indian equities is an FII investing in India.
