Conditional Exemption

Tax Glossary Definition

Conditional Exemption

Conditional exemption refers to a tax benefit or deduction that is allowed only if certain conditions specified under the Income Tax Act are fulfilled. Failure to meet these conditions results in denial of the exemption.

Example: Donations made to charitable organizations qualify for Section 80G deduction only if the institution is approved by the Income Tax Department.
