Tax Glossary Definition
Clubbing provisions are rules under the Income Tax Act that require a taxpayer to include certain income of another person (usually a spouse or minor child) in their own total income. These provisions prevent tax avoidance through transfer of assets or income to relatives.
Example: If a taxpayer gifts an asset to their spouse, the income generated from that asset is clubbed with the taxpayer’s income and taxed accordingly.
