Centralized Processing Centre (CPC)

The Centralized Processing Centre (CPC) is a specialized unit of the Income Tax Department, located in Bengaluru, responsible for processing electronically filed Income Tax Returns (ITRs). It carries out tasks such as verifying calculations, determining refunds or tax dues, and issuing intimations to taxpayers.

Example: The CPC in Bengaluru processes your e-filed ITR and issues an intimation under Section 143(1), showing whether a refund is due or additional tax is payable.
