Benefits in kind

Tax Glossary Definition

Benefits in kind

Benefits in Kind – Non-cash advantages or facilities that an employer provides to employees in addition to their regular pay. Examples include the use of a company vehicle, employer-provided housing, medical coverage, or meal vouchers. Although these are not paid as cash, they carry a monetary value and may be subject to taxation as part of an employee’s total income under applicable tax laws.

Example: If an employee is allowed to use a company car for personal travel, the assessed value of that benefit can be taxed as part of their income.
